The Kesko Group today (10 January) reported that sales from continuing operations, excluding value added tax, rose by 10.4% throughout 2006, increasing to EUR8.86bn (US$11.49bn).
December sales totalled EUR791.1m, an increase of 5.3% over the same month last year, the group added.
Sales from the Rautakesko businesses in Norway and Russia, acquired in July 2005, are included in the comparable figure and impacted sales growth since August, the company said.
Kesko operates in Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Baltic countries and Russia, with about 2,000 stores engaged in chain operations in seven countries. Throughout 2006, Kesko continued, sales from oversees operations accounted to 20.6% of the group’s overall sales, totalling EUR1.83bn.
