Swiss retailer Denner is to open up 50 stores in Switzerland over the next five years.
The retailer told just-food today (8 June) that the openings are part of a long-term strategy that the firm has in place.
“This is not a new decision to open the stores. We have always had a plan to open 800 stores in Switzerland, so it is a reinforcement of an ongoing strategy,” Anita Daeppen, a spokesperson for Denner said.
The retailer currently has 750 stores in the country, but said it had no fixed plans on location yet. Denner also declined to give financial details of the store openings.
“We are a little picky with locations and we are really looking for quality, so it depends on the availability of locations in the next few years.,” Daeppen said.
She added that the retailer will look at opening around ten to 15 stores this year.
