Swiss dairy group Emmi, the owner of brands including Kaltbach cheese and Aktifit probiotic drinks, said it expects its 2009 profits to “exceed” targets.

During a TV interview, Emmi CEO Urs Riedener said that the company had reached its targets and would “most likely” end the year “better than expected”.

Emmi said its net profit margin would surpass a forecast set in September when it set a target of 2.6%.

The company said the acquisition of Roth Käse in the US, double-digit growth from key brand Caffè Latte, as well cost savings, had propelled profits.
