Lindt & Spruengli has once again signalled its interest in the potential sale of the chocolate business Godiva by the US company Campbell Soup.

Speaking to the Financial Times Deutschland newspaper, Lindt CEO Ernst Tanner said: “It is my duty towards the shareholders to analyse every potential acquisition.

“It is a question of whether an acquisition would bring Lindt closer to its aim of becoming an even bigger global producer of premium chocolate.”

He added: “We have to do this in the case of Godiva as well. Then we will make a decision.”

The Swiss chocolate group initially expressed an interest in acquiring Godiva in mid-August.
