Swiss dairy group Emmi today (11 January) reiterated that mergers and acquisitions remain an important factor for the firm’s international growth.
The owner of brands including Kaltbach cheese and Aktifit probiotic drinks said earlier that it expects its 2009 profits to “exceed” targets – thanks in part to last year’s acquisition of Roth Kase in the US.
In December, Emmi said it was expanding its international business through the acquisition of a minority stake in two companies located in France and Italy – “strategic” markets for the Swiss dairy group’s cheese products.
A spokesperson for the group said that it will continue its strategy of expanding the international business.
“We are looking to improve our performance in the defined key markets (Germany, Austria, Italy, UK, US),” a spokesperson said, although she insisted that the company has “no concrete plans for M&A”.
