Swiss dairy company Emmi announced today (30 June) that it will take control of Trentinalatte SpA, effective as of 1 July. The acquisition of the Italian yoghurt maker will strengthen its market presence in Italy, Emmi said.

“Italy is a key European market for Emmi with huge potential in the fresh products segment,” Walter Huber, Emmi CEO, said, simultaneously announcing the appointment of Gilberto Cappellin as CEO of Emmi Italy.

Trentinalatte employs 160 people and specialises in the production of yoghurt and yoghurt drinks. The family-owned Italian company, which was established in 1982, posted sales of EUR35m last year.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
