SWITZERLAND: Pet cat developed BSE-related disease
Swiss pet owners were concerned to learn that a six-year-old cat has been diagnosed with an illness related to mad cow disease. Experts believe that the cat contracted the disease by eating pet food contaminated with BSE-infected ruminants. A similar 90 cases have been detected in Britain since 1990, but this is the first case in Switzerland, according to authorities.
