Canadian frozen food company McCain Foods is to sell its Taiwanese manufacturing plant to speciality Taiwanese food processer Sinkung.

The buyers expressed a desire to retain sixty of the affected eighty five full-time positions in Chi Shan, McCain Foods said.

The frozen food producer said it will reach a settlement with the twenty five redundant employees according to the Labor Standards Law in Taiwan.

McCain’s Taiwanese manufacturing plant produces dumpling and hot pot ingredients.

“McCain Foods is genuinely convinced that the continuity of its business activities in Chi Shan is best served by making it an independent entity,” the company said.
