THE NETHERLANDS: EU ban on Dutch livestock exports after foot and mouth confirmed
The EU has confirmed an export ban on livestock from the Netherlands, following the report that the country has confirmed its first cases of foot-and-mouth disease. Last week, the Netherlands became the second country on the European mainland to be hit by foot and mouth. Four cases of the highly contagious disease have now been uncovered and all farm animals living in the vicinity of the outbreaks will be destroyed in an attempt to halt the spread of the virus.
