Coinstar’s Meals.com today announced it has named Peter Barbaresi as executive vice president of sales.

In this position, Mr. Barbaresi will develop and execute specific programs designed to generate revenue for Meals.com. Mr. Barbaresi brings to Meals.com more than 18 years of sales, marketing and general business management experience.

“Peter comes to us with vast experience in introducing new grocery and consumer products, services and technologies,” said Jens Molbak, CEO of Meals.com. “His success and experience at Procter & Gamble, Ralston Purina, Mattel and Taco Bell will play a key role in establishing Meals.com as the pre-eminent leader of on-line recipes and meal planning.”

Most recently, Mr. Barbaresi was the president and chief operating officer at Rembrandt Inc., a manufacturer of CD, DVD and photographic storage products. Prior to working at Rembrandt Inc., he was the senior vice president of marketing and sales for Technicolor Inc.

“I’m excited to be joining the Meals.com team,” said Peter Barbaresi. “The potential of Meals.com is enormous because it is the only food site on the Web that personalizes recipe and meal planning, and targets products and promotions to consumers based upon their shopping habits. Meals.com bridges the traditional business model with `new economy’ solutions that benefit retailers, manufacturers and consumers. With the industry assessing ways to become competitive online, Meals.com becomes a key strategic partner in building customer loyalty,” said Barbaresi.

Meals.com Inc. is bridging the gap between the Internet and the supermarket. Its network of branded and private label Web sites features more than 10,000 recipes, which can be sorted by theme and cuisine. The network also contains extensive search and scaling features, as well as helpful commentary and useful cooking tips. Meals.com also provides the Shopper, an on-line kiosk, which serves as an in-store consumer access point. Consumers can use the Shopper to print out meal plans, shopping lists, and to receive money saving offers. Consumers save time and money when planning meals and shopping for groceries while manufacturers and retailers receive the opportunity to communicate one-to-one with consumers through Web site advertising and the sponsorship of recipes which highlight their products. Meals.com is a subsidiary of Coinstar Inc., a coin counting and e-services company that has relationships with more than 7,500 U.S. supermarkets.
