Nestle has expanded a plant in Turkey in order to produce Maggi bouillon products for the Saudi Arabian market.
The food giant has invested CHF9.9m (US$10.9m) in a cereal plant in Karacabey in the west of the country, creating around 100 jobs. The facility, which opened in 1989, has been extended to produce the firm’s Maggi bouillon brand for Saudi Arabia.
“Turkey is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic markets in Asia, Oceania and Africa,” said Nestlé executive VP Nandu Nandkishore. “This investment makes the site one of Nestlé’s largest production facilities in the region.”
The Maggi production lines will use the latest technology to produce 1,200 packages a minute, generating a total of 7,300 tons of bouillon annually from 2014.
