Turkey-based retailer BIM has seen sales and profits accelerate in the third quarter of 2013.

In the three months to the end of September, net sales were up 21% at TRY3.09bn (US$1.51bn), BIM said yesterday (11 November). Like-for-like sales grew 11.7%. Net income grew 36% to TRY117.3m.

The retailer, which has 3,900 stores in Turkey, as well as operations in north Africa, opened 63 net new outlets in its domestic market in the quarter. It also opened 16 in Morocco and three in Egypt.

For the first nine months of the year, BIM posted a 24.6% increase in net profit to TRY307.3m for the period to the end of September.

Sales were up 19% at TRY8.72bn. Like-for-like sales in for the first nine months of the year grew 10.2%.
