Turkish retailer Uyum Gida this morning (3 July) denied it held talks with Tesco over the potential sale of a majority stake in the business.
A spokesperson for told just-food representatives from the company had met with Tesco but insisted “negotiations were not held” on Tesco taking a share in the group. Uyum Gida operates 50 stores in Turkey.

A report in Turkish newspaper Vatan claimed Uyum Gida was in the “final stages” of talks that would see the UK supermarket operator take a controlling stake in the firm.
Tesco declined to comment on “market rumour and speculation”.
