2 Sisters Food Group has finalised plans to cut about a third of the workforce at its Coupar Angus poultry facility in Scotland.

The company, which acquired the site from Vion last year, said it has completed the compulsory employee consultation process and finalised the number of job losses at the site. The company will cut 230 positions from a workforce that is 651 strong.

2 Sisters said it has worked with Unite the union to try and minimise losses and negotiate a new shift pattern with Coupar Angus employees.

“It is anticipated that with effect from week commencing 16th February 2014 the new shift pattern will be implemented with the reduced workforce,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food.

2 Sisters said it expects around half the reduction in the workforce to come from voluntary redundancies.
