Meat promoter Quality Meat Scotland is to spend £200,000 (US$0.32m) to promote Scottish lamb throughout the UK.

The group hopes to increase sales of Scottish lamb in the UK market, which is currently dominated by Welsh products, reported the Aberdeen Press & Journal.

QMS chairman Jim Walker said that around three million lambs were produced in Scotland annually. Last year the Scottish sheep sector accounted for 12% of total Scottish agricultural output and contributed £225m to the Scottish economy.
