Paul Foley, the head of Aldi’s operations in the UK and Ireland, is to leave the business “by mutual consent”, it has been announced.

Foley is looking to “pursue new business interests” and, in a statement, said he had “enjoyed” his 20 years with Aldi.

The discount retailer said Armin Burger, who has worked for Aldi in central Europe, will take Foley’s role with immediate effect.

“Aldi’s plans for future development remain unchanged,” the statement read. The discounter declined to comment further.
