Arla Foods is to start producing Anchor butter in the UK next month.

The dairy group said it would begin manufacturing Anchor block butter at a production site in Westbury in the UK.

“Bringing production of Anchor to the UK is part of our long-term growth strategy and the investment at Westbury has facilitated this,” Arla supply chain director Lars Dalsgaard said.

Arla could not be reached for any further comment as just-food went to press.

Arla bought a stake in Westbury Dairies in 2010. Westbury Dairies was run as a joint venture with UK co-ops First Milk and Milk Link.

Earlier this year, Arla agreed a deal to merge its UK operations with Milk Link.
