Asda, the UK’s second-largest retailer, has appointed commercial director Barry Williams to the new role of trading director of food.
Williams, who will report to Asda CEO and president Andy Clarke, has previously worked for Musgrave, The Co-operative Group and Kwik Save.
“With Barry at the board table, working much more closely with the exec [team], I’ll be looking for him to build on the simplicity, clarity and purpose that he’s brought to trading,” Clarke said.
Colin Hill, Asda’s seasonal category director, will replace Williams as commercial director.
In addition, the retailer has appointed George clothing MD Andrew Moore as chief merchandising officer, replacing Charles Redfield.
Clarke said: “Despite the tough economic environment, the performance of his team is the envy of the fashion world.
