UK own-label manufacturer Bakkavor has expanded its Caledonian produce site in Scotland, creating 60 jobs.

Bakkavor has opened a second factory at its Caledonian produce site in Bo’ness, West Lothian, which produces prepared vegetables, convenience salads and ready meals. As a result, the company will increase its convenience salads production at the site. The company unveiled the expansion plans in January, to meet seasonal demand.

The factory was originally a warehouse that the company acquired in 2009 but has been converted to a food production facility. It will create up to 60 new jobs, taking the total number of employees at the site to more than 1000.

In addition, Bakkavor said it is set to start producing ten new product lines for its major UK retail customer in January, with further products expected to launch in April 2012.
