UK regional retailer Booths has kick-started the roll out of a revamp of its store network.

The retailer said today (22 August) it is investing “significant” capital in updating its stores, which will undergo “major” refurbishment over the next 18 months.

The Preston-based family-owned group opened a trial store in Manchester last year with new signage and merchandising, and will now roll this out to its full 28-strong network, it said.

The revamp will involve new “uncluttered” branding including signage, graphics and point of sale material, the retailer said. A focus on “excellent customer service” will also form part of the revamp, through the use of photographs of staff members, suppliers and producers.

“Central to our brand is the Booths’ aim of selling the best quality produce in attractive shops staffed with first class assistants and to promote a pleasurable shopping experience for our customers,” said Booths’ chairman Edwin Booth. “To ensure we deliver this, we’re investing significant capital to bring all our stores up to date with the new look which celebrates our staff and suppliers and gives customers more information on quality food and drink and signposts seasonal produce.

“The close relationships we hold with local producers and our community is central to Booths’ new branding and by refurbishing our stores to reflect this, customers can also engage with the producers that make Booths a wonderful place to shop.”
