The UK unit of US fastfood chain Burger King has announced plans to open approximately 25 new restaurants in 2004/2005, the most significant development programme it has undertaken for three years.

Burger King said it will open restaurants across the country, targeting the UK’s major cities as well as out of town development with a flexible range of outlets.  It is expected that vacancies for an estimated 800 employees will be created following the restaurant openings.

“We see the next financial year as a massive opportunity to expand our national network of restaurants,” said Andrew Pickett, development director at Burger King UK.

Burger King UK’s general manager, Ray Dellamura, added that the new restaurant development programme would form an integral part of its growth strategy for 2004/2005.
