Cadbury Schweppes has reported strong financial performance during the 2005 financial year with an equal sales growth in confectionery and beverages of 6%.
The company has posted a higher than expected revenue growth of 6.3% for the year, and an underlying profit before tax of GBP873m (US$1.52bn) – a 12% increase when compared to 2004.
Over 80% of the group’s revenues and profits in 2005 were generated outside the UK and, driven by Dr Pepper sales, US carbonates outperformed expectations. Cadbury Dairy Milk sales were up 7% over the period.
Cadbury Schweppes CEO Todd Stitzer said: “2005 was an excellent year with innovation driving success in both our confectionery and beverage businesses. Revenue growth at 6% is the best the group has seen in over a decade and shows that our strategy is delivering exciting products for consumers and strong results for our shareowners.”
