Reports in the UK press have suggested that the confectionary giant will delay important product launches of a new ‘healthier’ dark chocolate flake and Cadbury Melts brand. It has been suggested that the scandal arising from Cadbury’s recall of over one million chocolate bars due to salmonella contamination has sent the company’s product development programme into disarray.

However, Cadbury has told just-food that these rumours are simply untrue.

“Despite misplaced suggestions in the … press, Cadbury’s new product rollout for 2006 has not been impacted by our recent product recall. The two issues are completely separate and our exciting programme of innovation for the second half of 2006 is right on track.”
