UK confectionery and drinks giant Cadbury Schweppes today [Thursday] confirmed that Dr Franz Humer will resign from his post as deputy chairman of the company’s board, effective immediately.

Dr Humer was appointed chairman of Roche Holding in April 2001 and has subsequently decided to resign from all other non-executive posts. A further announcement about his replacement will be made in due course.


The Company has also revealed the appointment of Dr Wolfgang Berndt as a non-executive director. Formerly a member of the Senior Executive Committee of The Procter & Gamble Co, he was also President of its global fabric and home care business unit.


Derek Bonham, chairman of Cadbury Schweppes, said: “Dr Humer has contributed significantly to the development of Board policy since his appointment in 1994. We will miss his valued counsel and wish him well in his future career.”
