Cadbury Schweppes, the world’s largest confectioner, today (2 July) outlined its plans to help combat climate change.
The UK-based group launched what it called its “absolute commitment” to cut the use of energy, packaging and water from its operations around the world.
Cadbury pledged to cut its net absolute carbon emissions in half by 2020 and cut packaging by 10%. The company said it would also look to use more “environmentally sustainable” forms of packaging.
CEO Todd Stitzer said: “We recognise that if we are serious about tackling climate change, we need to be absolutely committed. This means re-thinking the way we do business, embedding sustainability into every decision we take. Not only will this have a strong social and environmental impact but also a positive economic impact too in the longer term.”
