UK sausage and bacon supplier Cranswick is to build a production plant in the north of England.

A spokesperson for Cranswick told just-food today (22 August) that the company is looking to expand onto the site adjacent to the current Yorkshire Baker plant at Malton in North Yorkshire.

The facility will produce premium pies and pasties, the spokesperson said and is expected to create around 100 jobs.

In July, Cranswick expanded its presence in the cooked meats category with the acquisition of Kingston Foods.
