Sausage-maker Cranswick has warned that it is likely to increase prices in order to help the company cope with soaring raw materials costs.

In a trading update, the company said it was in the process of negotiating higher prices to combat food inflation and the sliding pound.

Cranswick, whose contracts include Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference range, posted a like-for-like sales increase of 21% for the year to 31 March.

The company said it was “achieving price increases in the primary processing part of the business as supply tightens” and warned that more price hikes were in the pipeline.
