“Further to the recent press speculation we have received several approaches from parties wanting to either invest into, or buy this business. We have engaged KPMG Corporate Finance to explore these and a number of other options on our behalf,” Cumbrian Seafoods said.

The company admitted it had suffered from raw material inflation but said “corrective actions are now in place”. The spokesperson insisted Cumbrian Seafoods was a “profitable” business.

County Durham-based Cumbrian Seafoods brands include Perfect Catch, Ocean Pure and For the Love of Fish.
