Dairy Farms of Britain has completed the GBP5m (US$8.57m) upgrade of its Llandyrnog Creamery in Denbighshire, Wales.

Welsh Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones officially opened the refurbished plant that is home to the company’s Cadog brand last week.
The company said the upgraded plant is now “one of the largest cheese manufacturing sites in the UK” with facilities to manufacture, store and pre-pack cheese on a single site.
The plant processes 200m litres of milk a year and the company is expecting a turnover this year in excess of GBP70m, up GBP20m from the previous year.
Dairy Farmers of Britain received a GBP224,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly Government to fund the development of the pre-packing department and improvements to the dairy.

“Llandyrnog has been processing milk into cheese for three generations of dairy farmers and this investment secures the future of Llandyrnog for the next generation.”
