Disney has teamed up with Annabel Karmel, author on baby and toddler food and nutrition, to launch a “healthy snacking” range for the UK market.
Using Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh characters, the range is aimed at children aged 12 months plus.
The range includes rice and corn snacks, strawberry and peach flavoured raisins and 100% natural fruit crisps, Disney said today (16 March).
They contain “no artificial colours or flavours”, and the rice and corn snacks contain 70% less sugars and 14% less fat per 100g than their closest equivalent, Disney claims.
Dan Dossa, director, Food, Health & Beauty, Disney Consumer Products UK said: “We find that when a child connects with a Disney character, they are much more likely to try new and healthier foods. We’re delighted to work with Annabel to bring this new range to market.”
All products comply with The Walt Disney Company’s strict nutritional guidelines, which were introduced as part of the company’s commitment to developing healthier foods for children, the firm said. The guidelines control calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium and sugar, and eliminate trans fats altogether.
