Dr. Schar announced today (28 March) that it has teamed up with the Co-operative Group to launch a range of branded frozen gluten and wheat-free foods in the retailer’s UK stores.
The frozen range, to be sold under the DS-gluten free brand will include Margherita Pizza, Sausage Rolls and Yorkshire Puddings.

According to Dr. Schar, the range’s introduction was triggered by the continued growth in gluten and wheat-free products, whose sales, according to Kantar Worldpanel, grew by 14.8% year-on-year.
Dr Schar brand manager Emma Herring said: “There’s a real demand from free from consumers for quick and convenient meals and snacks and this latest launch consolidates DS-gluten free’s position as the UK’s leading supplier of frozen gluten and wheat free products.”
Dr Schar UK will be supporting the launch with a consumer marketing campaign with in-store sampling, online activity, direct mail and couponing direct to customers and the range will be available in some 82 Co-operative Group stores from April.
