Duerr’s says it has consolidated its position as the largest producer of peanut butter in the UK with the launch of an own-label line.

The UK jam maker says it is “flying the flag for Anglo-US relations” with the launch of its Crunchy and Smooth Peanut Butter. The products contain roasted nuts imported from the US. The line carries the American Peanut Council registered trademark.

Duerr’s currently makes around 100,000 jars of peanut butter a day and will up this to 9,000 tons this year from its facility in Manchester. The company said it launched the range in response to consumer demand for the spread.

Retailing at GBP1.99 (US$3.08) per jar, the range rolls out this month.
