UK chocolate producer Thorntons has seen its third-quarter sales jump almost 12% after a buoyant Easter.

The London-listed company said sales for the three months to 14 April rose 11.6% thanks to a leap in sales with the UK’s major retailers. On-line sales from Thorntons Direct rose 17.2%.

Chief executive Mike Davies said the company had seen progress after a “difficult” start to the year.

“During Easter, sales of our excellent chocolate and ice cream products performed well and the group expects its full year performance to be in line with expectations,” Davies added on Wednesday (18 April).
