This is one of several new initiatives designed to get tourists out and about again, following the foot and Mouth outbreak.

During June a million leaflets, each containing vouchers for four special offers, will be distributed free of charge by Tesco stores across the region and into London. Tesco agreed to help as a service to their customers, and to assist the tourism industry to recover from the effects of the Foot and Mouth outbreak. The promotion is free of charge to participating attractions.

Tess Wright, EETB’s Managing Director, comments ‘We are very pleased to be working with Tesco to stimulate business to visitor attractions, which are still feeling the effects of lost business during the spring.’

‘We were very pleased to help out by stocking the leaflets in stores there are some great offers on days out in the region for our customers. It’s also another way we can try and do our bit to help communities hit by Foot and Mouth, and in particular the tourism industry’, says Leonie Smith, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Tesco.

In addition to the special offers detailed in the leaflet, EETB is also offering a FREE Cycling Discovery Map to help residents explore by bike. Nineteen maps covering the whole region have been produced, with circular routes ranging from twelve to thirty miles, the perfect way to discover the region off the beaten track.
