The NDFAS, developed by the National Farmers’ Union, the Federation of Milk Groups, the Dairy Industry Association and the British Cattle Veterinary Association, addresses the issues within the milk supply chain and reassures customers that correct standards are being achieved.
The scheme covers a range of standards applicable to the complete dairy production process from hygiene and food safety, housing and facilities, plant and equipment to herd health and stockmanship. There are currently approximately 17,500 farms operating to these standards through 28 first purchaser members of the NDFAS.
NDFAS is a voluntary scheme for the first purchasers of milk.
