Fuel giant Exxon Mobil Corporation is to test out its convenience store format at a handful of sites in the south of England.
The company is replacing four former Esso petrol stations with its international On the Run forecourts, reported The Grocer.
The format, which the company already operates at 800 sites outside the UK, is retail-led, offering fresh hot and cold food, a café and a deli.
The company said the format was just on trial in the UK but planning applications are in the pipeline to convert more Esso and Mobil petrol stations to the On the Run banner.
On the Run was formed by Exxon Mobil following the merger of Esso and Mobil in 1999.
