The Authentic Food Co has invested GBP2m (US$3.1m) in increasing production capacity after securing contracts with UK retailer Asda and several leading European retailers.

The ethnic food manufacturer, which invested GBP2m (US$3.1m) in its two sites in Stockport and Sharston in Greater Manchester, said it has achieved “significant” growth in the last four years and hopes to hit GBP50m in revenue this year.

Much of the new capacity, the firm said, has been created following the win of a contract with Asda in addition to several leading retailers in Europe, which it did not name.

The company produces around one million meals per week, which it supplies to UK pub chains and retailers.
