A major refurbishment of one of the country’s largest catering operations at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Bristol, UK, has been completed.

Eurest-Sutcliffe, a business and industry catering arm of the Compass Group, has invested £160,000 (US$234,900) to overhaul four staff restaurants which together serve 5,500 civilian and service personnel.

The project marks the start of a seven-year contract for Eurest-Sutcliffe to feed staff at the MOD. It was undertaken on a rolling basis so that service could be continued throughout the refurbishment.

Catering at the MOD has changed to accommodate employees’ needs in the 21st

Century, said Eurest-Sutcliffe. This means more cold food, snacks and sandwiches to reflect “grab and go” lunchtime habits. The menus change daily but the menu always includes takeaway items such as pizzas, wraps, baguettes and cakes.

Eurest Sutcliffe provides a range of services including staff restaurants, executive dining, deli bars and retail shops for nearly 4,000 of the UK’s employers.
