Wild was appointed by Wal-Mart as chief merchandising officer of its German business in 2004 and, a year later, became president of its business there. He was at the helm in 2006 when the world’s largest retailer decided to quit Germany after eight years in the market.

Premier chairman Ronnie Bell said he was “delighted” that Wild had joined the UK firm’s board.
