UK dairy Express Dairies has announced that its finance director Paul Whitfield has resigned his position and will leave the company on 30 September.

Paul Whitfield has held the position since 1998 when Express Dairies demerged from Northern Foods. Reasons for the resignation are unclear, but the company has said it is looking for a successor.

Express sold UHT milk and Frome Creamery for £33.1m (US$51.5m) to Milk Link earlier this year, in a move to ease some of Express’s debt, which was reported as £168.8m as of 31 March 2002.

The company has also said that trading is ahead of last year, despite challenging market conditions.
