The UK’s Food and Drink Federation (FDF), which represents food manufacturers, has said it has launched a new website to provide consumers with a comprehensive guide to the meat-free manufacturing sector, currently worth £606m (US$1.14bn).

The FDF said the site, which supports the FDF Meat-Free Industry Group and aims to be the definitive source of information on the meat-free food manufacturing sector in the UK, allows visitors to see in one place all the major players and their products in the UK meat-free market, and provides links to company websites. The website also provides information about market trends, the sector’s history and health issues.

“The meat-free sector has grown dramatically over recent years as consumers have demanded a wider variety of foods to suit changing tastes and lifestyles. FDF has added www.meat-free.org.uk to its growing bank of information websites to provide a one-stop-shop with something for everyone in the food chain – manufacturers to caterers to consumers – on this exciting and dynamic sector,” said Martin Paterson, deputy director general of the FDF.
