Difficult trading conditions and rising commodity costs have forced UK ready meals buisness Fenmarc Prepared Foods into administration.

Cambridgeshire-based Fenmarc, a vegetable supplier, bought the company, formerly known as PannKrisp Ltd, in 2005 for an undisclosed sum.

Fenmarc’s other operations – trading as Fenmarc Produce – are not affected, a spokesperson for the company told just-food today (17 April)

Wrexham-based Fenmarc Prepared Foods employs 190 people and supplies a range of fresh ready meals to the grocery sector.

Deloitte is acting as administrator for the company.

“Our appointment follows a difficult trading period and rising commodity costs, as a result of which the directors concluded that the company could not continue to trade in its current form,” said Deloitte’s Ian Brown.

“After discussions with customers, suppliers and employees, it is my intention to allow the company to continue to trade in the short term to determine whether a buyer for the business can be found.”
