Forest Products has withdrawn batches of its apricot jam because they contain sulphur dioxide, which was used as a preservative in the products.

The company said sulphur dioxide is not included in the ingredients list for Cherry Tree Apricot Extra Jam and Westcountry Preserving Company Finest Apricot Extra Jam and that consumption could be a health risk to people who are sensitive to sulphites.

The Cherry Tree Apricot Extra Jam is in 340g jars with a best-before date of June 2011 and batch code 8174 CK015.

The West Country Preserving Company Finest Apricot Extra Jam is in 340g jars with best-before date of October 2010 and batch code 7296 CN115.

Notices are being displayed at point of sale explaining why the product has been withdrawn.
