Fray Bentos has recalled some of its own-brand minced beef and onion pies from UK shelves due to the possibility of them containing pieces of metal.

The affected batch, which was only supplied to Iceland stores, includes the 425g Fray Bentos Beef & Onion Pie with a best before end of June 2010 and batch code: 8169.

The Food Standards Agency issued an alert on the recall yesterday (17 November).

Fray Bentos said it has recalled the affected batch from sale and product recall notices will be displayed in all Iceland stores, explaining why the product has been recalled.

The company is urging anyone who has bought the product to return it for a full refund.
