The UK food watchdog has today (30 July) asked for views on “issues that need to be resolved” ahead of any chance of an introduction of a front-of-pack labelling scheme in the country.
The Food Standards Agency is to ask stakeholders to consult on how to combine the words ‘high, medium and low’, traffic light colours and GDA percentages on labels.
The FSA said an independent study had found that shoppers would “benefit” from a labelling scheme that brought all three elements together.
The consultation period ends on 5 November. Findings will be discussed by the FSA board before it makes recommendations to UK government ministers.
