Sir John Krebs, chairman of the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA), has resigned from his post in order to take up the position of Principal of Jesus College Oxford in October 2005.

Krebs, who was first appointed as chairman of the newly-created FSA in January 2000, is to remain as FSA chair until April 2005. His first appointment was for an initial term of four years and he was reappointed for a further term in January 2004.

A successor will be appointed by Health Ministers following a selection procedure overseen by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
