UK confectionery and snacks group Glisten has bought local nuts and snacks firm Dormen Foods for GBP7.45m (US$15.1m).

The deal will see Glisten set up a “premium savoury snacking” division. The Glisten business will then comprise three units – premium savoury snacks, premium confectionery and natural cereals and fruits snacks.

Dormen blends, seasons, and packs its nuts and snacks at its plant in Swindon and markets through its offices in London.

Glisten chief executive Paul Simmonds called Dormen an “excellent addition” to the business.

“It broadens our reach and takes us into the most dynamic area of the savoury snacks market with a truly premium brand which we feel is a rising star capable of stretch.”
