Iconic Scottish meat processor, Grampian Country Food Group, is to relocate its headquarters back to Scotland just three years after moving it south of the border to Leeds.

It is reported that the move will trigger a small number of redundancies, although some staff will relocate to the new headquarters near Edinburgh and others will find posts at the company’s other sites in both England and Scotland. The Leeds office employs about 80 people.
Grampian is the largest privately-owned company in Scotland and maintained a Scottish head office in Aberdeen when it moved its operational headquarters to Leeds in 2003. The shift southwards was driven by the fact that the company’s key customers, who include the UK’s largest supermarkets, were headquartered in England.
Grampian processes more than 15,000 tonnes of meat products each year, including more than 7,000 tonnes of poultry products. Outside of the UK, it has operations in the Netherlands and Thailand.
When contacted by just-food, a spokesman for Grampian confirmed the move was going ahead but declined to give further details.
