Grampian County Food Group has told just-food that it is in continuing local talks with representatives from the Transport and General Workers Union.
Last week, around 1,400 workers at six Grampian production facilities undertook strike action, seeking improvements in pay and pensions, as well as parity for agency staff.
The union has reportedly criticised the company for treating union members with “contempt” and failing to enter into a constructive dialogue. The T&G was unavailable for comment as just-food went to press.
According to Grampian, it has entered into local talks with the union as there is no national recognition agreement between the two groups. “Discussions between local management and the union’s local representatives are ongoing,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food today (19 April).
The company also confirmed that it is in the final stages of closing a meat production plant in Whitchurch, Shropshire, with the loss of 87 jobs.
