Belgian chocolate maker Guylian is to launch its low-carbohydrate chocolate bar in the UK after success on the US market.
The Guylian Low Carb bar is set to be launched next month and will initially be trialled in Woolworths stores until January, reported The Grocer. If the product proves successful, the company hopes to roll it out to the major grocery retailers.
“We have launched a low-carb version of our distinctive Belgian chocolate in response to consumer demand. Recent research has revealed that more than half of UK consumers have admitted to trying a low-carb diet in recent times and we are capitalising on this emergent trend,” Guylian’s sales and marketing director, Kevin Toms, was quoted by The Grocer as saying.
“In the past year, the bar has recorded huge double-digit growth in the US, so we decided bring it over to the UK, where we tend to follow US trends,” he added.
